I've been really into shampoo bars for a few years now and I bought a new one from Lush recently that is honey, rosemary and olive and I used it for the first time today and it was kind of weird because there were actual pieces of olive in the bar so it didn't feel quite right rubbing that onto my head BUT my hair is so soft even though it's still wet it feels... floaty? I don't know how to describe it but apparently I should have always been rubbing olives onto my head.

I sometimes use Curly Wurly from Lush and it feels odd because it has actual desiccated coconut in it, like I actually really don't like the feel of it, but then it does make my hair nice. I'm keen to try the shampoo bars but I think they all have SLS in them, which I try to avoid.

I've been using Ethique bars for almost two years now and I still rate them way above any other shampoo or conditioner I've ever used. The conditioner is especially good - I use the Wonderbar and it's actually amazing. My hair feels divine but it makes a great shave bar, too. And even using it for both shaving and hair conditioning, it lasts forever.

Their body butters and cleansers are great, too.

My hair is basically all falling out now thanks to 2 ish years of bleaching and dying it purple. I didn't get it bleached all that often, I guess the purple was harsher than I thought.

I'm going to try and get through to March with super thin hair and shave it off for the greatest shave, but honestly not sure I can last that long. Last time I got Josh to shave my undercut I was tempted to get him to keep going Sad

Did you get it done originally through a salon and what dye were you using? You should go to a hairdresser get Opalex and a custom Fabuloso mix to help save the hair

I hate my hair! It looked great when they blow-dried, and even though it wasn't at all what I asked for, I walked out of there all "I love it!" and posted on insta and everything. But by the next day it looked like shit, and I'm really quite mad about how they didn't listen to me at all.

I asked for a balayage from my natural hair to a purpley-pink. When I showed her a picture of the colour I was thinking, I said "But not that bright!" about four times, and yet it is practically neon (and the picture was nowhere near this bright, for the record). I asked for it to start from about mouth-level, and even as she was putting it on I was like "You're going a bit high there" and she replied "Well, we gotta make it look good", the result being that it goes to about an inch away from my roots and in some spots even closer, looking like I've got a lot of regrowth. She said we needed to bleach it, which I did agree to, but my old hairdresser never bleached it so much at once, so it took hours and now my hair has gone from really healthy to quite damaged.

All I think I can really do is wait for it to fade and dye it back to brown until the bleach is grown out (which will be years to get it completely out). I can't even go back to the hairdresser all mad, as I walked out of there all very happy. Ugghh

So yesterday my hair broke a comb and I am DONE! I've decided to chop it all off. I'm thinking something like this:

I think that style would really suit you.

I take back what I previously said about I should have always been washing my hair with olives because my dandruff has been insane the past two months. Sitting in my car, looking in the rear-view mirror and picking at my head before I go into anywhere level of insane because it's that bad and I have dark hair so it's extremely noticeable. I'm going to buy some coal tar shampoo tomorrow to hopefully fix this.

Yes! I'm so keen to have short hair and a big part of it is the damn heat. I've booked in for Wednesday and am a little scared but very excited. I'm thinking more something like these than my previous post.

I canít wait to see it Subes!

I have been following the ďcurly girl methodĒ more and more over the past couple of months and Iím really into it! Itís all about not using any silicones or sulphates on curly hair, drying your hair with a t-shirt instead of a towel, applying heaps of product when your hair is wet and some stuff about proteins that I donít understand yet. Itís definitely making my hair curlier and Iím heaps keen to learn more
about it!

It is done! Getting photos from my phone onto here is annoying, but I posted on my insta stories. I really like it and I'm so keen to see what it looks like with my hair's natural curl. It feels so light and lovely.

Can we talk about how every hairdresser recommends a different product? Eg. I've had multiple tell me that argan oil is great, then today she told me stop using it as it's "like putting cooking oil in your hair" (which, for the record, I have used EVOO too so *shrugs*) and recommended some other oil that I don't remember the name of. It's annoying.

Tilly, I haven't heard about the "curly girl" method as such but I do avoid silicones and sulphates as I read they're bad for dry hair, and I put curling creme and anti-frizz serum in when my hair is wet. I might try the tshirt thing though. I was doing "plopping" when I was bothered/had the time, but I guess there's no point now with short hair.

I'm pretty much convinced that every hairdresser just recommends the items they sell.

Some things work for some people, and they don't for others.

I've looked into the curly girl method(/s) but I feel like it's written for softer hair types. If I put product into my hair wet it will just dread.

I've thought that it might be them trying to sell products, but usually, they don't actually try to get me to buy from them. Some have even been like "You should use this, you can buy it at priceline".

Kira, it's funny you say that, because I feel like when I kept trying to find tips for curly hair, so much of it was aimed at coarse afro-textured hair.

I'm not sure whether Murray follows the curly girl method specifically but I know he has a whole system. †He dries his hair with a soft t-shirt, and has a product from Delilah (a hairdresser that specialises in curly hair that he goes to) that he keeps in the shower, and bought a special hairdryer that he uses if he needs to dry his hair quickly (usually he just lets it air dry). I think he just went to two specific curly hair hairdressers (Neel Loves Curls, and Delilah) and they taught him what to do. He liked both hairdressers but preferred Delilah.
