1960s-themed Costume Party: Ideas Needed PLEASE!

As the title says...on Saturday night (yes, in three days time) I'm going to a 1960s-themed costume party and I have noooo idea what to wear. I don't really want to hire a costume because it's quite expensive for a party, especially considering I don't know the birthday boy so well, and it's such a hassle to get to the costume shops, and so close to the party date there probably won't be a lot left. But if I can't think of anything else, a last-minute rush to the costume shops might be in order. Any ideas of what to wear?

Shift dress and platform heels or go go boots
Oversized shirt over leggings a la Edie
Hippie style

I found a dress at Target today that is kind of '60s-ish and I also bought a plain black headband and because I'm not very good at doing hair, I'm just going to wear my hair down. My mum found some earrings that would be good and I found a lot of plastic jewellery, you know the stuff that was "cool" a few years ago. I'm also going to wear fishnets (probably) with my black boots. Not brilliant, but it'll do, and it's cheaper than hiring something. I'm going to do cats' eye make-up and Mum reckons pale pink lips.

You could try moussing your hair and backcombing it. That works well. Or buy some Root Booster (I have fudge Root Juice) that you spray onto your roots and blowdry so they're all poofy. Helps with backcombing.

Or just leave it down, like you said

The costume/make-up turned out well, or at least I thought so! The party was also good, except for maybe, in hindsight, the last hour or so but never mind about that. Photos!

Light blue eyeshadow over the whole above-eye area, darker blue on the eyelid, black liquid eyeliner to make cats' eyes, pale pink lipstick.

oh god I know more about this era then any of you.
there were many different groups in the 60's, prodominantly the hippie, the american one with bell bottoms, paisley large peace sighns and long hair.
then there was the mods, short skirts, flat chests, long legs short hair and huge eyes with fake eye lashes and short pixie cut hair

then there was the beat nick look, backwards berret, long straight hair, black turtle neck, round glasses and and a big fat jiont

oh and then there was the bohemains, with the massive amount of jewelery, short dresses and big fur coats
