It's a foundation. Shiseido Moisture Mist Beauty Cake. Pretty much every girl I know owns one - maybe it's just a Whangarei thing but it is a very popular foundation! I used to use it but switched to Mary Kay a couple years ago, then started using L'Oreal mineral powder foundation this year. The powder stuff looks great but it drys my skin out quite a bit and it can be really messy - you can't carry it around in your handbag cos it gets jostled around, and as soon as you open it the stupid powder goes everywhere! So, anyway, point is, stole some of my sister's Beauty Cake this morning and think I'm going to revert to the tried and true Smile

I bought the Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara today, I'm actually quite excited to try it out tomorrow night to see if it's good. I'm such a sucker for mascara ads, I know they all do practically the same thing but I still get conned into buying different ones every time!

Yeah I'm the same way, make up advertising really gets me.

This time I've gone for Revlon Beyond Natural mascara because it was only $5. I'm really impressed.
My favourite is always the orange maybelline one, Drew Barrymore was in the ads, it's got the best brush.

Last time I got mascara I got a double ended one. Biggest mistake, I never use the first part and then end up with half full and half empty.

Anyone know any good foundation for really dry skin. Also. Is powder or liquid or what better for dry skin. I've been considering going to myer and getting foundation matched to my skin colour and they'd probably tell me all this but I'm too scared. Also I probably shouldnt even wear it because my skin is so bad... But I'd like the option occasionally.

I have dryish skin and my recommendations would be:

If you like full coverage, I find Revlon colourstay is best (their dry skin formula)

If you like light coverage (this is what I use in summer) A tinted moisturiser, whatever works for your skin - I recommend Nivea, Olay, and covergirl (they are all great prices) and then on top I put on a mineral powder foundation.

With the powder foundation, always always swatch on your skin. The colour you usually think you are will probably end up being 2 shades too dark.

I have really dry skin and found powder foundations made it so much worse. I wear Shiseido Moisture Mist Beauty Cake and it's great. Just make sure to moisturise first, whatever you get!

Also, just go to Myer, it's not that scary and you'll get really good advice Smile

Tash is right, you just have to try a few things out.
I find that the powder foundation doesnt dry my skin out, but everyone is different!
don't be scared!

I use a tinted moisturizer, and it has good coverage and isn't too thick.
I don't know how it is with dry skin, but it's an option to consider?

I'd also suggest a primer if you want the foundation to last ages

Like a paint primer, basically. Smooths out your skin and provides a better base for the foundation to 'cling' to. Gives a much smoother, more flawless look.

Tinted moisturiser is great, but won't give anywhere near the same sort of coverage as a foundation. It's best in summer! I love you

Not at all! I don't use primer. The cheap ones are too crap to even bother trying, and I just can't bring myself to fork out for the decent ones (Napoleon and MAC primers are both amazing).

Fuuuu. So I bought some foundation today, and in the shop it looked fine on my skin. Then when I put it on in my room it looked fine. Then when I went into the bathroom my face was fucking orange. Why does priceline not use better lightbulbs! I'm so so so so so glad I bought $15 stuff instead of $30+ stuff!

I did however buy a $25 makeup bag thing from rimmel. It had (shit) mascara, eyeliner, black nailpolish, clear lipgloss and some white and grey eyeshadow and it came in a sequin bag with the union jack on it.

If it looks fine everywhere else, it could be that your bathroom has shit lighting?
