Wardobe Dilemmas

Help needed. Tomorrow night is Sam's birthday party. It's starting off at his house and then we're going out. The theme is "crazy" and we have been instructed to dress "crazy". Here's where the dilemma lies. I have a crazy out fit (blue jumpsuit, purple and green patterned tights, pink legwarmers) but I don't want to be dressed like that when we go out, especially seeing as I don't know where we'll be going. So should I dress nice for going out or should I dress crazy and just deal with it? I suppose I could dress crazy and bring a change of clothes for when we go out but I don't really want to carry it all around with me.

Personally I'd dress crazy and take a spare outfit to change into, depending on where you're heading. You can usually roll clothes up to be quite small, and I have a huge handbag so it's no drama for me. But you HAVE to wear the crazy outfit to the party!

I would stay in the crazy outfit all night

You could always hide underneath a coat when you go out, I've done that or find an outfit a little less crazy that will be crazy enough for the party but not too over the top when you go out if you don't want to carry your outfit all night

I bet even in a crazy outfit your outfit would look better than half the girls out...

From how I'm picturing the outfit in my head, I would put a skirt/dress over the jumpsuit and take off the legwarmers so you have a black (?) dress or skirt over the tights.

Thank you Em, this is exactly what I ended up doing. Did a quick costume change before leaving Sam's where I swapped the jumpsuit for a black dress and flung off the legwarmers.

Also, Mal and Klerr, I would've stayed in the crazy outfit all night but I wasn't sure where we'd be going to and didn't want to run the risk of not being let in.

I'm going to an engagement party and dress is smart casual, what does this mean? I'm thinking since it will be freezing just dressing up a pair of jeans but I'm not sure, I always seem to miss the mark with these things and looking like a knob.

Jeans, a nice top and nice shoes should do the trick. I guess a good guide would be the dress code some venues use, no thongs no singlets etc

Yep what Addy said, either that or a nice maxi dress, something along those lines.

-black one shoulder dress
-cream-yellow colour pleated dress
-dark pink perplum skirt with floral pattern with black Ben Sherman jacket
-cream colour Topshop Paris Flippy skirt with white singlet and blazer
- leopard print skirt with white shirt and leather jacket
- green maxi pleated skirt with white shirt

Without having seen anything, I would go cream-yellow dress or Topshop skirt combo

Yeah, it's hard to say without pictures but I'd go the pink floral skirt and Ben Sherman jacket.

Quite a few people still find wearing black to weddings offensive (the things you learn when you browse wedding etiquette forums, holy shit)

Ok here are some photos I was too tired to take photos last night. I don't see the big deal with black the two weddings I've been two recently people wore black.

I personally think the yellow dress and the blue/green skirt are amazing. I think if you want to wear black that's cool, we're not in the 1950's anymore and lots of people will be wearing black.

I dont have n issue with it (actually, I didnt even realise it was an issue) but its amazung how many people do the whole "oh my god she wore black what a cow" thing. Actually its kind of scary.

Meanwhile, that blue/green skirt is gorgeous.

Yeah I was thinking nude shoes, but I just tried the dress on it's a tad too small. I have too much upper back fat

I have these four items in my ASOS shopping bag (all on sale) ... do I? Don't I? Is there anything here I should get rid of?

I haven't had a proper shop in so long, I really want to rejuvenate my wardrobe a little but the thought of four dresses at once is making me a little panicky!

But they are really cool, right. Especially that rainbow one.

I like the last two best! If you (well, okay, I) had to get rid of one I'd say the cream one, but I like them all!
